December 9, 1984. That’s the night Evan Kleiman opened Angeli Caffé on Melrose. We shouted our praises a few months ago, but if you still haven’t stopped by, Kleiman is sweetening the deal with a 25th anniversary celebration that lasts through the end of next year. As of December 1, you can grab a three-course supper for $25 every night through 2010. With most restaurant’s discounted suppers in town topping out at nearly twice that amount (Lucques‘ Sunday Suppers and Monday Family Nights at Campanile are both now $45), this is truly a George Michael-era bargain (not to worry, Wham! tunes have not been added to the restaurant’s iPod). Kleiman tells us the menu will vary nightly, depending on what’s in season, but you can bet those fantastic croquettes and handmade gnocchi will make appearances, as will her always-fresh seasonal salads and satisfying desserts like flourless chocolate cake.
