WHY Fried-egg sandwich (made with gruyère, sourdough and thick-cut Nueske bacon), frittata with bacon-wrapped asparagus, big salads, good burgers, great cheese platter, gingerbread pudding with vanilla ice cream, and more such modern classics.
WHAT An upscale coffee shop for the goat-cheese-and-mizzuna crowd, BLD is run by star chefs Neal and Amy Fraser, who are soon to open a fancy spot in the old St. Vibiana’s Cathedral. Short for ‘Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner,’ BLD turns out everything from ricotta-blueberry pancakes to house-cured salmon salads. It’s hip but not too trendy, busy but not too noisy, upscale but not overpriced. Expect a long wait for weekend brunch.
WHO Miracle Mile office workers, low-key industry types, Hancock Park moms out for lunch.
