WHY For cocktails you won’t find at the corner bar-really good ones.
WHAT Cocktail guru Vincenzo Marianella’s Promenade-adjacent lounge feels like a cozy Manhattan bar, thanks to its weathered brick walls, French-mod leather wingbacks, well-coiffed bartenders and big-city prices. If you want to spend $11 for a gin and tonic here, that’s your business, but the smart money’s on such concoctions as the Smoke of Scotland (two Scotches, dry vermouth and elderflower liqueur) and the Emerald (gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, black grapes and sage). Add a very good Black Forest ham sandwich, and you’ve got a well-balanced meal, at least in some circles.
WHO The newsboy-cap and belly-button-length gold-necklace crowd.
