WHY Vietnamese-American comfort food in a stylishly barren Highland Park café.
WHAT We’re so happy that chef Diep Tran’s hip yet family-friendly spot finally started serving lunch, especially because her Grandma’s Pho, pork baguette sandwich, spicy fries and delicious curry chicken pot pie are great midday dishes. And we’re just as happy to come for dinner, especially because we can bring our own wine.

Ms. Bates,
I have two words for you…
Spicy fries! Spicy fries! Spicy fries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry.
What I meant was yes, indeed, they are remarkable and how nice that you can have them with wine. I swear, though all her stuff is grand, my dream dinner is just those fries, with wine.
Medicinal, don’t you know : )
