WHAT Pete White paid his dues (25 years!) at Poquito Mas, and at his solo venture he uses farmers’ market produce and quality seafood and meat to produce some of the best tacos around. There are burritos, quesadillas and fajitas, but really, it’s all about the tacos. For carb-watchers, there’s a grilled tilapia taco with a butter lettuce cup. We’re besotted with the Tiger Tacos, a trio of plump, garlicky shrimp nestled in a corn tortilla, a light meal in itself for $3.25. For five bucks you can get three grilled steak, chicken or al pastor ‘street tacos,’ the best deal on 3rd Street.
