WHY With its California-dream patio and organic, market food, Wilshire is bucking to be the Michael’s for the new millennium. It’s not that, but we appreciate the effort.
WHAT Wilshire has a too-cool country-club vibe, complete with leather club chairs and a cover-charge scene at the bar after 9:30, but it’s not just the latest hot spot to jump on the organic, sustainable bandwagon. The kitchen turns out very good (if pricey) farmers’ market—inspired dishes like sweet corn ravioli with creamed morels, and whole Thai-style fried snapper with soba noodles. Save room for the updated comfort-food desserts, like the sticky toffee pudding.
WHO A moneyed crowd that’s as beautiful as the enclosed patio, with its fireplace and burbling fountains.
