— Silver Lake’s Freight Foods is closed for a private party on Saturday, but its Friday-night menu sounds pretty darn good for just $12: bourbon-glazed tri-tip served with cowboy beans, pico de gallo and buttermilk cornbread. Freight Foods at Zanzabelle, 2912 Rowena Ave., Silver Lake, 626.243.3686.
— Saturday is your last day to get Jimmy Shaw’s chicharron de queso with black beans, avocado and pickled jalapeno as part of Clementine’s Grilled Cheese Month — starting Monday the guest-chef grilled-cheese of the week will be Evan Kleiman’s provolone, hot Italian sausage and garlic rapini on ciabatta. Hmm, guess we’ll have to go twice in the next few days. 1751 Ensley Ave., West L.A., 310.552.1080, clementineonline.com.
— Easter means eggs, and we prefer the eating ones over the painting ones. Some of our favorite egg-making spots in town: Canele in Atwater Village, whose Coop’s Omelet is simple perfection; Square One in Los Feliz, for its frittatas, baked eggs and pressed egg sandwich with tomato, arugula and aioli; Little Flower Candy Co. in Pasadena for its fantastic quiches; Mr. Marcel in Farmers Market for its quiches, and the Santa Monica branch on the Promenade for both its quiches and its eggs benedict; and the Aroma Café in Studio City for its suitable-for-two omelets.
