The rain let up, the street food aromas mounted, and before long more than 100 L.A. food lovers and media folks filled the Traveler’s Bookcase parking lot and store to celebrate the publication of EAT: Los Angeles 2010 book. The party was a big hit, even with the cold, cold temps — all it took was a sip of tomato soup from the Grilled Cheese Truck to warm everyone up and get their appetites revved.

Revved they got — the crowd stuffed themselves silly on Indonesian pork satay from Heidy’s (Duarte Indonesian food festival, held Saturdays), natural, hormone-free Let’s Be Frank dogs, deep-fried huitlacoche quesadillas from Nina’s (Breed Street food fair in Boyle Heights), grilled cheese sandwiches with butternut squash and leeks from the boffo new Grilled Cheese Truck, and fresh-mint chip ice cream sandwiches from Coolhaus. To drink was home brew from the Eastside Brewers and Spanish wine from Silverlake Wine.
We’ll post more photos in a day or two — here are a few to start.
You’ll find the new EAT: Los Angeles — with two new chapters, 56 new pages and more than 1,200 listings of L.A.’s best finds for food lovers — and bookstores, markets and food shops all over town. If you don’t see it, ask for it!
