Go Go’ers, this weekend is the official calm before the holiday storm. What’s the best way to soothe your already-turkey-stressed soul? Seeing beautiful, beautiful art!
It’s also the perfect insider L.A. activity to entertain visiting art fans as well as (too) early-in-town Lookie Lou relatives.
You may have one or two of those.
Over 100 NELA artists open their studios this Sunday, November 18th for 20/20 Vision: The Arroyo Arts Collective 20th Annual Discovery Tour. The self-guided auto tour starts at the Lummis House (El Alisal) where the first Los Angeles Times City Editor held wild parties for artists, musicians, and writers.
Oh to be a fly on that rock wall….
Your ticket — $10 in advance, $15 at the door — gets you a map of Northeast Los Angeles that will guide you to Connie Rohman‘s fiber art, Nicholas Fedek II‘s photography, Gwen Freeman‘s paintings, and Lynn Heinz‘s assemblages among many, many others.
Or, if you’d rather watch the scenery than the road, a tour bus will drive you to selected art hot spots.
Don’t forget to check out NELA’s highly touted galleries such as Cactus Gallery (down the street from yummy Auntie Em’s – think early-tour breakfast) and Future Studio (conveniently located by Las Cuevitas for post-tour cocktails.)
Cocktails…always your preferred way to celebrate art.

Ms. Go Go regrets that before she could finish the list of weekend fun, she became temporarily hors de combat: sidelined, out of commission, and down for the count…although certainly not out…with a nasty stomach flu.
Expect a chipper Ms. Go Go back on the scene soon with recommendations for Turkey Week fun.
With Ms. Go Go as guide, that’s not an oxymoron….
Ready? U Know U Want 2 Go Go….
