LA Underground Market banner 5-17

The Go Go is giving away 5 PAIRS of admission tickets to L.A. Underground Market!

To win tix, click on “Leave a Comment” link above the “fork & spoon” and tell us your fave Go Go event!   First 5 responses win!

Let’s face it: last week’s Cinco de Mayo to Mother’s Day transition was tough.

One minute, you’re wearing a giant sombrero, pounding tequila, and shouting Ole!

The next minute, you’re wearing a blazer, pouring tea, and muttering “Oy vey.”

This week, wear whatever you want as long as you want…okay!

Short on Length, Long on Laughs

Go Go’ers, the above description refers not to your rubbed-shiny running shorts but the succinct cinema on view at the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival.

Year Six of the fest, which was co-founded by Gary Anthony Williams (Boston LegalMalcolm in the Middle), kicks off with an evening of celeb-heavy short films starring the likes of Patton Oswalt, Ron Livingston, Will Forte, Jason Ritter, James Franco, Doris Roberts, Jordan Peele, Patrick Warburton, Fred Willard, Mindy Sterling, Laraine Newman, Wendi Malick, Sally Kemp, Martin Starr, and more.  (The latter five thesps featured in not-to-be-missed Girls: Season 38!)  Cool down later at the Opening Night Party hosted by always fab party spot Angel City Brewery, which treats Fest Pass Holders to two free beers.

It’s good to be a Big Shot.

Subsequent days and nights of mirth include more parties, film blocks with titles like SuperFrenemies and Pow! Bam! Boink!, panel discussions highlighting writing, producing and Famous People Talking About Sh*t, and a Red Carpet Gala where LACSF winners will be announced and comedy parody legend Weird Al Yankovic will be honored with the Fest’s highest award: a COMMIE!

Fingers crossed that’s an award for the bookshelf, not an armed revolutionary.

L.A. COMEDY SHORTS FESTIVALThurs, May 15 – Sun, May 18;  $13 – $159.  Various times/venues.  For tix, passes and more info, go HERE.

The Gamble House: Gaze at iconic architect Henry Greene’s drafting table.

Pasadena Museum of History: Marvel at the multi-horned Bandini chair once owned by Don Juan Bandini: one of SoCal’s largest 19th century ranchers/landowners.

Los Angeles Police Museum:  Gawk at a “booking chair” once used inside the Newton Street Police Station.
