Sunday December 16th, Chef Ricardo Zarate and Food GPS‘s Joshua Lurie will greet some of L.A.’s most celebrated chefs into the kitchen at Mo-chica to imagine and create ceviche dishes unlike any before. The first night, held December 9th, featured one of the more prized members of the seafood hierarchy, uni (better known as sea urchin). Cooking that night was local culinary legend Josiah Citrin of Michelin two-star restaurant Mélisse, and it offered tasting flights of superb craft beer from New Belgium Brewing. The event on the 16th will star local chefs Bryant Ng (named “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine) from Spice Table and Kris Yenbamroong (Los Angeles Magazine 2012 “Chef of the Year”) from NIGHT + MARKET and will serve tasting flights from Firestone Walker Brewing Co.
While each chef will create a ceviche in the more traditional, Peruvian style, special concoctions featuring hot items and unusual proteins (such as duck) will push the boundaries of the dish as we know it.
Ceviche Night on the 16th runs a most reasonable $75. Better yet, 10% of proceeds will go to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts. To reserve your spot visit cevichenights.eventbrite.co
