In case you missed it (we almost did), it is officially American Craft Beer Week. Several bars around town are offering pint specials on brews from SoCal’s artisan producers, but the hands-down best deal we’ve found that features a diverse sipping selection — essential, because we are talking about craft beer — is at Blue Palms in Hollywood. This is the kind of bar you pass by without expecting much more than the average pilsner (or something swanky yet fluffy, thanks to the Hollywood-style billboard sign out front) — certainly not such an impressive selection of rotating beers on tap (there’s even a firkin of cask-conditioned ale tapped each week). Beer fiends know this is where you find great specialty brews in bottles, too. There are also some great regular deals, like $4 pint night every Tuesday.
But this Tuesday, the American Craft Beer Week special at Blue Palms is a bargain $20 for a flight tasting of an impressive lineup of 17 beers, including Firestone Walker’s 11th, 12th and 13th anniversary ales and even a Corsendonk Christmas Ale (a hefty, wintery brew, but it has been a bit chilly this spring, no?). Seriously, this kind of deal can be explained by nothing other than a crazy beer-loving brewpub owner’s desire to spread the craft-beer word. Drink up. And check out the web site for other Craft Beer Week specials.
