FOOD/DRAMA/PLAY — Creative Seeds: An Exploration of Hunger

Food for thought....

This summer, Cornerstone Theater Company went to Fowler, California, and grew a play.

Organic peach farmer David Mas Masumoto, his farmer-artist daughter Nikiko, and his son Korio participated in Cornerstone’s A Man Came to Fowler and will also be performing at the final weekend of CTC’s Creative Seeds festival, which explores issues of hunger, food, and farming.

Masumoto, who is also an award-winning author (“Epitaph for a Peach”), will present work — along with Geoff Korf, Shishir Kurup, Bahni Turpin, and Alice Tuan — at Art Break on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at  the Renberg Theater at the Ed Gould Plaza.

Creative Seeds culminates on Sunday with Word on the Street, an Arts District block party from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Enjoy “artistic offerings of song, dance, readings, poetry and ritual” as well as culinary offerings from local faves The Pie Hole and Wurstkurche plus food truck faves.

Come hungry.

(Creative Seeds Festival, Cornerstone Theater Company, 708 Traction Avenue  Los Angeles,  90013,  213. 613.1700 x117   for complete schedule, info &  tix, go to www.cornerstonetheater.org/; Free but $20 suggested donation; bring a canned food item to donate.)
