In June, teams of westside children, upset at the budget cuts impacting their schools and teachers, starting having lemonade sales to help their schools. It came to be known as Project Lemon-Aid. Their efforts so impressed the adults around them that they started pitching in, having fundraising yard sales, yoga classes and more.
Now local businesses are joining the effort, including the team behind Santa Monica’s Rustic Canyon, Huckleberry Café and Sweet Rose Creamery. They’ve posted an online auction that runs until Friday, August 13th, with all proceeds going to Project Lemon-Aid, which in turn supports the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation. It’s open now and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday the 13th.
There’s some great stuff up for bid, including a private baking class with Zoe Nathan, a mobile ice cream party, an artisanal cocktail tasting at The Village Idiot and a cheese-tasting class with Andrew Steiner. Prices are pretty modest by auction standards.
