Given the prevalent cocktail culture in the City of Angels, it’s hard to believe that Los Angeles has never had a Cocktail Classic.
Leave it to Drink Eat Play to right that particular wrong.
On Friday, June 8th, the former St. Vibiana’s church in Downtown L.A. will become L.A.’s Cathedral of Cocktails with the inaugural L.A. Cocktail Classic. From 9:00 pm to 1:00 am, the open bar will feature product from over a hundred high-end liquor companies.
The roster of mixologist talent includes Matt Wallace (Harvard and Stone), Joe Swifka (ink), Marcos Tello (ex-Edison libation artiste), and Matt Biancaniello (Roosevelt’s Library Bar).
Already, yum.
In addition to drink stations throughout the premises, you’ll want to check out the Suntory-sponsored Asian Room, where a shoe-less you can sip Scotch over hand-carved ice.
Worth the price of admission is the single malt and oyster bar hosted by the 200-year-old Bowmore Scotch distillery and featuring the Oyster Gourmet’s Master Ecailler Christophe Happillon. (Read here for a a recap of an earlier Bowmore/Oyster Gourmet event.)
The $75 admission fee includes open bar; food will be available for purchase. In terms of attire, you’ll want to swank it up to match the general gorgeousness of your surroundings.
Basically, your cocktail event dream-come-true.
