We checked out the kickoff party for the upcoming Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, where details of the upcoming August 9-12 event were revealed. The gathering at Downtown Marriott’s Inon Bar and Lounge included name chefs and assorted media folks who munched their way through soft tacos, passed apps, and mini desserts fashioned by pastry chef Sally Camacho of Wolfgang Puck’s WP24.
This year’s festival, to benefit Meals on Wheels, will run four days, commencing with Giada’s Festa Italiana and featuring an Asian Night Market with TV host Andrew Zimmern.
The lineup includes a Champagne and caviar tasting with Sang Yoon, lunch at Ink with the Voltaggio brothers, and Wine & Swine, billed as a marriage of pork and piños.
The program’s centerpiece is the Grand Tasting, which will be held Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. on the Event Deck at L.A. Live, with about 30 of Wolf’s best chef friends and 200 wineries. Along with tastings, many chefs will be signing their cookbooks. Grand Tasting tickets are $150 and VIP ones are $195. You’ll find a complete list of events and participants at LAFW.com.
