L.A. Lobster Fest
If you’re a lobster fan, you probably already know that prices on live Maine lobsters have dropped dramatically this summer as a result of both a spiny arthropod glut and the economy’s oceanic toll. As we hit the high season, the Bristol Farms, Gelson’s and Ralph’s with water tanks tend to keep them in stock, but you’ll also find live lobsters for a steal at many Asian groceries, and of course, good seafood markets.
Those who want to bypass the cooking and get straight to the bargain eating will have to wait until the weekend of September 18 through 20. At this year’s Port of L.A. Lobster Festival 1.25-pound whole steamed Maine lobsters, flown in fresh daily, will go for $17. Admission to the live music-packed event is $7, with this coupon, kids under 12 get in free.
