If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you’ll want to snap up tickets pronto for the Labor Day Block Party: the family friendly segment of The Taste, the Los Angeles Times’ end-of-summer food fest. Tickets for kids 3-12 are only $5!
Want to up your grill game? LAT Test Kitchen Director and Block Party co-host Noelle Carter will be leading “Going Whole Hog: Tales from Masters of Competition BBQ”; the panel features Ryan Chester (The Rub Co.), Sylvie Curry (Lady of Q) and Neil Strawder (Bigmista’s Barbecue).
Other mustn’t-miss savory bites from the dozens of delish vendors: include: Dog Haus’s Spicy Thai sausage on a sourdough roll with crispy onions, spicy basil aioli, avocado; and a mini tostada with Marlyn fish pâté, topped with sea snail, shrimp and octopus ceviche from Coni’Seafood.
Your Mini-Mes will want to camp out at the Crème Caramel stall where sweet treats will include Upside Down Ube Pie, Nutella Bread Pudding and Caramelized Chinese pork sausage Bread Pudding, and Buko Pandan (Young Coconut Pandan) Crème Caramel.
Additional food fun includes: cooking demos featuring Block Party co-host Nancy Silverton (Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza, Chi Spacca), Evan Kleiman (KCRW’s Good Food), and Fred Eric (D’elish); Steve Lopez’s Firehouse Cookoff; and a “Champagne or Prosecco” panel.
There won’t be a Noodle Surprise in sight.
