The music may be more significant than the lobsters at the annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, but that’s not to say that the lobsters are bad. It’s just that the music is pretty damn good. This weekend’s lineup includes Saint Motel, Dengue Fever, We Barbarians and former Xers John Doe and Exene Cervenka, just to name a few. Plus comedy acts, rides, crafts and stunt performances.
And oh yeah, lobsters: Whole steamed ones, from Maine, for $18 a meal, including cole slaw, sweet rolls, potatoes and “buttery” dipping sauce. It’s not going to put Hungry Cat out of business, but you won’t hear Exene singing at Hungry Cat, either. And if you aren’t a lobster lover, you can hit up the food trucks: Nom Nom, Ragin’ Cajun, Coolhaus and more.
