The dilemma: You love checking out street chow but unless you happen by a truck/cart/stand and can swerve to the curb — no small feat in L.A. traffic — it’s not always possible to research, track, and taste all of the delish dish that L.A.’s street vendors have to offer.
The solution: the 2nd Annual Vendy Awards, which take place this Sunday, June 24th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Pan Pacific Park.
Curbside chef finalists, chosen weeks ago by popular vote, will gather for an intense cook-off to compete for the People’s Choice Awards and coveted Vendy Cup awarded by a distinguished panel of food-savvy judges.
The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Vendy Award finalists:
- Tacos el Gallito
- India Jones Chow Truck
- Karina’s Food
- Buttermilk Inc.
- Martha’s Tamales Organicos
- The Lime Truck
- “El Palomo” Hot Dogs
Your $40 gets you food from all of L.A.’s top vendor contenders and tix are tax-deductible because they benefit L.A. City Farm, which aims to help L.A. communities eat healthier and more sustainably. Last year’s Vendys sold out before the Big Day so you’ll want to grab tix asap to avoid disappointment.
Now if the vendors could only do something about L.A. traffic…..
