They Bake for the Food Bank

Just when you’ve recovered from the double-whammy of pecan AND pumpkin pie in one sitting, it’s time to gear up for more sweets—but in this case, it’s to help feed more than just yourself. This Saturday is the return of the semi-annual Eat My Blog bake sale at the West Hollywood Tender Greens. As has happened at the several earlier, and very successful, Eat My Blog events, dozens of L.A.’s food bloggers (and some of the places they write about) are donating handmade goodies of exceptional creativity. New for this December are homemade dog biscuits; you’ll also find lots of holiday-inspired creations, like the Candy Cane Creme Faux-reos promised by Eastside Food Bites. Us, we’re holding out for the bacon caramel popcorn by Chowballa. We also spied “crack pies” on the menu. Just so you know.

And Eat LA’s own Pat Saperstein, who blogs on her site EatingLA.com, will be there with something we know will be really good.

Besides contributions from the bloggers, you’ll find desserts from such professional kitchens as Sprinkles Cupcakes, Starry Kitchen, the Manila Machine truck, and Tender Greens. Every item is priced between $1 and $4. All proceeds go to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.

Eat My Blog officially runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but be warned:  the sale’s laden tables are often sold out by 1 p.m. If you want that bacon caramel popcorn, we advise an early arrival. Note that once again, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is donating a variety of coffees and hot drinks to accompany the sweets.
